The Inca Creation Myth


A long, long. time ago, God Viracocha created earth, and some giants to lived in it.  The giants did not want to lived by Viracochas rules, so the God destroyed them with a big flood.
After a while Viracochas was feeling lonely, so he created people the look just like him.  The god took a rock and shape it into a man and a women form.  These two shapes were the first two human on earth, and as they are named, they animated and come to life in the darkness of the primeval world.  God Viracocha was so happy with the new humans that he sends his son the God of the sun Inti to illuminate the days and his daughter Mama Quilla the moon to illuminate the nights.  He also created the start to infinitely illuminate the earth at nights.  He also created animals and plans for human to have company and food.  Viracocha happiness was so great that he send to earth Viracochan to helped  human. Viracochan meas The one send by Viracocha.  His job in earth was to teach human everything they need to know to have a productive life.  Event tough, he’s teachings were the great benefit to the new people, there were son ungrateful ones that made fun of him.  Viracochan was so mad that he turn this man into rocks and the ones that tray to run away were burn by the lava of the volcanosAfter this Viracochan stared a long journey and one day he found this beautiful valley and he named Cusco. This was an anticipation of the arrival in Cusco of Ayar Manco and Mama Ocllo, founders of the Inca Empire.
Viracochan continues his journey all the way to Ecuador where he told the people great prophecies and after this he walk in the ocean until he disappears.
